West Indies Squad for 1st Test Against India Announced

West Indies Squad for 1st Test vs India:

Kraigg Brathwaite (captain), Jermaine Blackwood, Alick Athanaze, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Rahkeem Cornwall, Joshua Da Silva (wk), Shannon Gabriel, Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Kirk McKenzie, Raymon Reifer, Kemar Roach, Jomel Warrican.

In preparation for the upcoming Test series against India, the West Indies squad is set to travel to Dominica on Sunday. Currently, they are engaged in a pre-series camp at Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua. Upon their arrival in Dominica, the team will participate in training sessions on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning to fine-tune their skills ahead of the match.

Led by captain Kraigg Brathwaite, the West Indies squad for the first Test includes a combination of experienced players and promising newcomers. Among the fresh faces in the squad are left-handed batter Kirk McKenzie and Alick Athanaze. Additionally, the team features the return of spin-bowling all-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall and left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican. The inclusion of Warrican is believed to be a result of Gudakesh Motie’s injury, which has created an opportunity for the left-arm spinner to showcase his abilities once again. Warrican had previously missed the South Africa tour earlier this year but was part of the squad during the Zimbabwe tour.

The first Test between West Indies and India is scheduled to commence on July 12 in Dominica. This match also marks the beginning of the third cycle of the World Test Championship for both teams. Fans can look forward to an exciting contest as these two cricketing powerhouses go head-to-head in the ultimate test format.

Stay tuned for further updates on the West Indies squad and their performance in the Test series against India.
